Title: Reverse sensors/park pilot question
Post by: SMD on 08 October 2015, 10:40:35
I want to fit reverse sensors to my MV6. I found someone breaking an Elite. What do I need other than the sensors?

Where is the speaker mounted and what is the bracket for? The guy breaking the car is not too sure

Speaker requires partial removal of the headlining (it lives above the passenger side just behind sunroof) and the gubbins is mounted on the nearside inner wing... Saloon between spare and wheel arch, estate just inside nearside cubby... Both systems identical :y

Thanks. Will forward this info

What does a second hand park pilot (with all bits) go for?

Depends if it works or not plus condition of thesensors and clips... Haven't bought one for about four years... Paid £45 iirc... New can be bought from Germany for around a ton...

The new ones, are they genuine GM parts? And what colour do the sensors come in?

Just easy to mount it behind and to the left of the pax footwell. I fitted a replacement here successfully. :y

It is me breaking the car that SMD is referring to. So, sensors and the sensor loom out. So is the sounder from the roof. However, the module has 2 plugs in it and I can't work out how to release them. Also the loom has a red wire that is piggybacked onto a white with black trace wire that goes into a connector to another whiite black wire in the lighting loom across the boot. Breaking the connectorr leaves the sensor loom still attached to the boot loom. So, is the loom to the sensor module there even if sensors arent fittted and if not am I right in assuming the white/black is for reversing lights that the red is in an odd way tapped into. What is the best way to remove the loom if SMD needs it?

WESW is indeed reversing lights... unwrap both the connections you mention and cut either side of the join so that retro fitting is straightforward. Plug to box have a clip on them, nothing fancy but might be fiddly/tight... :y

The loom will be needed, but be easier to remove once everything is unplugged...
Pm incoming btw...

Just to say, apart from the earth terminal, connection to the reversing lights and possibly one other wire, the rest of the ParkPilot loom is pretty self contained iirc... have most of one here, so will have a rummage for the loom for pic purposes :y

I have a pic of the offending connector.  How do I upload items there doesn't seem to be an option in the "attachments and other options" to add one.

I find photobucket easiest... oddly enough, there's a guide :D in FAQs iirc :y

Hmm Hoped there might be a way to just add it to the post rather than uploading it to another programme
