I was cleaning the caravan and standing on a step ladder scrubbing the roof, then a huge gust of wind came along and blew me off, step ladder fell out of way and I landed on my back after a 4 foot fall.
My coxics (sp) is in agony but my back is a bit better.
Paracetamal Ibuprofen cold compresses are working.
NSH direct say if I get any limb knumbness call an ambulance.
And my best bucket got its handle broken! >:(
-
Sorry to hear that Martin :'( :'( :'( Hope you feel better soon by taking care of yourself ;)
Next time you are trying to fly buy a plane first! ;)
-
Sorry to hear that mate -- a bruised coccyx can be really painful for quite a while -- careful how you sit down !!!!
BTW -- eat foods with plenty of fibre --- straining will hurt !!!!!!!!! :o
-
Also I am overweight, my bum provided a soft landing, but I need two cusions 1 under each buttock
-
The crap on the roof was amazing, about 10 minutes after the fall I went to 3 steps and rinsed the roof, (arm full stretch up)
-
Another tip -- don't sit down for long periods at a time, alternate the weight from buttock to buttock and also it sometimes helps to lean forwards a little to shift your weight forward :y
Chin up ::)
-
Not good Martin, hope you feel better very soon.
Wait for the The Boy comments on this one ::)
-
Ouch!

I think TB is clumsy too - I have kept moving, sitting on peas, managed to do the burgers but had to get everything passed to me.
About an hour afterwards I didn't have the strength to carry my own weight!!!!
-
Beware in the morning mate, it will scream at you when you try and get out of bed :(

Generally, I'm not clumsy. I do stupid things frequently (knowing the risks), but not clumsy. Now, The TheBoy, she is the world's clumsiest person.
I'll make no comments about how a gallon of petrol and a match would have been a better result ;D
Hope you don't ache too much in the morning, which is when it will catch up with you.
And remember my motto - A bit of pain never hurt anyone
-
Nice Hot Bath but dont get stuck
-
On the odd occasion i've had a bad back, i feel fine when i wake up due to lying down all night, soon as you move about the pain comes back. :(

Well I did get some so there :P 8-)

Not for 24 hours and I would get stuck - hence my cycling and walking trying to get thinner :-[

As someone who suffers low back problems (problably due to being up telegraph poles all day every day for years, and not helped now by being a fatty), I often find soothing comfort in laying on the floor on my back.
Getting back up when my back is giving me jip, well, that can be 'interesting' ;D
-
Oh my goodness Martin!....I hope you`re going to feel better soon. ;)
I find those self-heating oxidising chemical (self-adhesive) heat-patches are very good at helping resolve back pains/spasms......the 4" or 5" square hot-pads are very good and relief lasts for 12 hours (or so)....watch out if you have a hairy back though! :y
*Available at most pharmacies/Boots etc.

It won't be hairy for long !!!!!!! Mind you, the counter irritation will ease his back :o

ouchhhhhh!! ;D ;)

Can sympathise with lower back pain, I seem to suffer with it often now, I blame it on lugging too many big Sun Microsystems / Silicon Graphics CAD screens around about 13 years ago. ::)
Hope the pain doesn't stay with you too long....

Sorry to hear about the accident Martin :(
Pop (or crawl) to the docs and get him to prescribe Co-Codamal 30MG + 500MG ......its about the strongest painkiller he will prescribe and probably wont like to do so.
Plus you may not be able to drive........they may make you feel 'pi$$ed'
But they will take any pain away :y

You can always rely on Pete to give helpful, considerate advice!!!
Bad luck Martin, i can empathise i banged my coccyx whilst gorge walking a few years ago, not felt pain like it! Was advised then to keep mobile so as not to stiffen up!

Sorry to hear about your fav bucket mate... I hope it will be ok :y ;D ;D
-
Agony this morning, big bruises on my bum, my shoulder and neck ache as well
DOctors at 10:20
-
Ouch.. must have been a hell of a shock as well.
Maybe you should take up a less risky pastime than caravanning?
-
Sympathies Martin. I doubt the doctor will be able to do much, industrial strength painkillers maybe.
-
My motto about a bit of pain never hurting anyone is backed up by fact I have only seen a doc once in the last 27yrs (trod on a rusty nail about 10yrs ago, went a bit manky after a week), and the fact I'm no registered in Brackley.
Did go to hospital (not through choice) when I collapsed at work about 8yrs ago, but headbutted a desk on the way down :-[ - an ice cream van with blues and twos took me to MK General.
When I fell off the bike about 3yrs ago, I just popped a couple of Mrs TheBoy's painkillers - and got an insight into her strange world ;D. Mind you, when they wore off in the night, it hurt so much, I got up to be sick (thats real pain), only didn't make it as I passed out on the way to the bathroom, and spent the night on the floor ::)
-
Always best to get checked with back pain, but didn't do casulty on Sunday as there is nowhere to park.
I once hurt an ankle badly and rode to hospital - parked on the pavement outside A&E about 22 years ago

COme off some of the stronger tablets as they were doing funny things, currently using Ibuprofen and occasional Paracetamol.
Went to doctors today, another 6 to 8 weeks and I SHOULD be OK.
Don't like the should bit, but it appears my spine was partly compressed and was jarred quite hard.
I will probably get checked out when back from holiday.
The coxick is still sore and sitting down not easy STILL :(
-
It's already nearly a month and they reckon another 6-8 weeks ??? seems a long time for even severe bruising to go :(
Hope you feel better soon .. :y :y :y

Bugga, a harder landing than I thought. At least you are on the mend. :y :y

Very sorry to hear you are still suffering Martin! :( :(
It was obviously a very nasty fall, but I sincerely hope you get better soon. :-* :-*
Apologies for my silly joke about flying in my earlier thread just after your fall! :-[ :-[
-
I can sympaphise with you, I've had two microdiscectomies on my back within the past 9 years, so I know what the pain can be like. Still have trouble even today but it will get better for you, all the best. :(
-
my back went a couple of months ago so i know how your feeling mate,
only mine went whilst i was sat on the loo and i could not move a bean,
the wife then proceeded to call an ambulance, then who should turn up but two female paramedics ,,, talk about embarrasing
-
Sorry - that made me laugh :-[
I may try the stronger pain killers again.
I am not light and I fell about 5 - 6 foot.
I think the doctor (who was going too basic) was trying to say equivalent of bruised bones.
I think it is ligaments torn and possibly some disc damage.
I have full flexibility but my back aches.
