Title: Rare sight for me
Post by: 78bex on 20 October 2015, 22:30:04
I was in my ususal lunchtime spot overlooking Langstone harbour today.
I couldn`t believe what I was watching, not sure if it`s that rare to be honest
Anyway a a kingfisher flashed past me & flew out to sea about 25 metres or see at wave height.
The water was calm & half tide & He was heading out to shallows near an exposed mud bank.
Several stoops later he had something & flew back past me into a small copse. I always assumed they fished on fresh water  :-\  not anymore :y

Apparently not unusual, although I've never seen it ...

I`ve pottered arond the harbour for years & never seen it before. I`ve seen the odd swift/swallow down at wave height taking flies before, but that made my day :y

There's a couple of pairs of Kingfishers on the River Irwell near us where we walk the mutt. They're bloody quick and you're lucky to sight them.
