Title: Manual Gearbox Mounts
Post by: P6UL K on 24 October 2015, 15:40:39
How many are there?

I've noticed a fair bit of movement in the gearstick when accelerating... Not gear change movement as that as always been slack but where the box appears to rotate under load.

Firstly replace NS engine mount. If box is twisting noticeably then it's fooked. Mine has had two...One at about 80K by TVP and once by me at about 230K...

Secondly check the rear gearbox mount... Replace if split or soft... Leaking box seal will kill it in short order, especially if NS engine mount is toast. Seal is about £30.

Thirdly and finally there's a rubber hanger widget which supports the back end of the gearlever bracket.

Looks like this...

Replace with this...

That lot should change gear shifts from trifle bowl to rifle bolt :y

Looking on PartsBase.org there are two different engine mounts listed for the Y32SE... 90447532 and 90496738, but also lists a vibration damper 90447533, only one rear gearbox mount tho 90447547

90447533 is...  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Opel-Omega-B-Motorhalter-Halter-Konsole-90447531-825832-90496674-90447533-2105-/291311477660?hash=item43d384639c:g:hy0AAOSwiCRUewiT&vxp=mtr 2.0 only, so ignore ;)

Left and right are possibly different due to the corresponding positions of the locating pins :-\ rear mount is straight forward, only the one :y

Just phoned my local dealer and I'm looking at nearly £300 for the two engine mounts and the gearbox mount! Next call Euro car parts LOL

Somewhere in the dark depths of my mind I remember someone saying only use GM OE engine mounts, maybe HTK can confirm, should be ok with pattern gearbox mount though.

Just to clarify, I only need to replace the near side mount and not both?

Correctamundo :y

The right hand one is almost.always compressed so doesn't really wear, whereas the nearside one effectively pulls itself apart, especially if ragging the car...

I fitted a second hand engine mount but have know idea which side it originally came from... On condition alone I would suggest drivers side :-\

Gearbox mount is about £15 from factors iirc :y febi should be a good bwlance tween cost and quality ;)
