Found this on the AA's 'Autotrader' sort of part of their site where you can advertise cars. Probably not an absolutely 100% accurate buying guide....
"Expert Opinion
Produced between 1986 and 2003, the Vauxhall Omega is a family executive which was at one time voted the European Car of the Year (1987), but was later overshadowed by increasingly fierce competition. Today it has dated substantially, and while it is far away from the quality presented by the impressive Insignia, it offers an affordable, reliable alternative. Space inside is ample, as is the boot, while a refined and smooth ride means that it remains comfortable at all times. There are a number of petrol engines on offer, but the best is arguably the 2.2 litre diesel, which offers a bit more substance than the remaining options. Reliability and run costs aren't bad, which means that, even if the Omega isn't the most desirable, it is at least dependable."
Also they show a picture of the very very rare Omega FL coupe as a typical example picture :o

Don't know about you, but that's exactly what my 1989 Vauxhall Omega 2.2 Diesel (the best engine in the range) looks like! :y
I also find it an excellent alternative the Insignia, what with the last Omega being built some 5 whole years before the Insinificant was even launched!
when two cars are designed an entire decade-and-a-half-apart I often compare them, as viable alternatives to each other.
Which reminds me, I am thinking about buying an Austin Montego. Does anyone have any alternatives to suggest? A BMW Z3, perhaps? Or maybe a Rolls Silver Shadow? They are all two door coupes, after all. :y
I weep for the whoever was given the job of composing that page. Sigh. :)

9 of the 12 reviews were posted within four days of each other in Oct 2013...... Strange.

The first review states that it is 2002 but also says it,s a 2litre engine, is this possible? :-\
