Title: What is the other sensor close to coolant temp. sensor in V6
Post by: polilara on 02 November 2015, 17:58:05
Just changing the thermostat to my V6 Y26SE, nice construction really, but new thermostat is now there and B-bolt is screwed back. I see two sensors in the "bridge" between heads. One of them is certainly coolant temp. sensor (which one?) but what is the other one. Should I change them now just for sure when everything is open or just leave them there? Engine is running a bit cold about 80C acc. to dashboard meter. That is why I changed thermostat.

They're BOTH coolant temp sensors ....... one is for the engine ECU (square-ish 2 pin connector) & the other is for the gauge on the dash ( single blue wire going to it with a simple spade connedtor on it)  :y

Thanks Andy B

So the ECU one is more important controlling the mixture. I have "My Naff Code Reader". Do you think it can be tested or should I just change it just for sure. Fuel consumption have been quite high. Ten liters/100 kilometers in motorway (highway) about 100 km/hour=about 60 miles/hour. In city traffic more than 16 litres. Perhaps due to low temperature of engine only, that is why thermostat changed.

If a new CTS isn't very expensive, and you're already there, then why not. But I don't think you should expect much more to the litre/gallon than you already are  :-\
