Hi all....
I have a Nokia phone with Windows 8.1 on it. My problem is...the wifi keeps changing. I set it to my BT Hub, and its great, until the phone turns itself off, I assume sleep mode. But every time it starts up, it goes to BT Wifi-with-Fon. It is sitting about 5' from the hub. Is there any way I can lock it to stay on BT Hub while I am home.
I think it is called a Nokia 535, but I don't know how to check, offhand :-[

Should be summat in settings... possibly a check box for connecting automatically to your home hub :y
-
Yup, maybe along the lines of 'make this my default internet' or words to that effect. Maybe try manually disconnecting it, then when your reconnect, it may bring up a box with such an option.

On mine there are a list of available connections under the wifi menu. I can tell it to 'forget' any I don't want, eg. a neighbours router. But mine is a Samsung Galaxy so your settings menu may be different.

Ah....I pressed on my connection for my Hub....and it came up with a little box that is ticked, and says 'Connect automatically'
But its not...I just tried again, and it had to be changed. I think that box means I don't have to put a password in again. I may be wrong, as you can see I know nothing about phones :( :-[

On the other hand, if BT wifi with fon is available, why not use it? It doesn't count towards your usage.

Is your WiFi password protected? If so, you'll need to get your Lumina to remember the password. It forgets passwords when the screen times-out.
Settings > WiFi > Advanced
There is a box to click, something like "Keep WiFi on when screen times-out" (or something similar). Click this box, and it should be fine after that.

Fella's....I think between you, you have cracked it. :y :y :y :y
I connected to BT Wifi....then tapped that, and a little box came up ticked ' Connect automatically'. So I unchecked that, and have done the same with all listed, The phone went straight to my BT Hub., Brilliant , so grateful.
Steve...I have unlimited infinity here, so no usage problems, mate

Gentlemen, we have now witnessed the first time I have been able to help even vaguely with a technology query... ever! :D

And it didn't involve using a knocking stick!

On stupid gayphones, the priority of wifi is done on the order that you originally connected to them, last being the highest.
I suspect most other dumbed down modern smartphones are similar.
Terbs, if you use BT Wifi out and about, be aware you might just have disabled access to some of them.

Ah.....I do use bt WiFi. Will it fubar my phone then :(
