Since if I stay in my current job, I'm going to end up impaling someone on the end of a size 12 boot, backside first... I need to retrain. First step I think is to do a couple of A-levels, thus paving the, er, path to something engineeringy*.
Option 1 is to do a part time course at college - option 2 is to do one of these online courses. Anyone have any experience of them, or anyone who has? Are they actually worth the same, or is it like me issuing degrees in baldness from Gastro's University plc?
These two are the first two Google hits - obviously when I take the plunge my research will be a little more detailed and indepth... at the moment consider this my dangling of the first digit of one's pede...

Do I not need A levels to bridge the gap? I have GCSE A-Cs in everything relevant...

Not specifically :y
You require a certain number of points... if you have done any A levels or college courses, these count. If you have enough points you either do a foundation year or jump straight in... depends on place, course and experience. If you don't have enough points, you can start with an HND, effectively a two year foundation, which, if scored high enough, can get you into the second year of a degree course...
As for funding, have you ever received a grant or subsidy towards further education? If not, then speak to your local authority :y
