Title: Onstar
Post by: Andy B on 09 November 2015, 22:28:09
I notice that Vauxhall adverts are now advertising the fact that new Vauxhalls have access to Onstar. I wonder if the CCRT700 is compatible with it  :-\

Hate that new advert, how bad is the lip sync?

They take a Vauxhall badged car to another country to film and do the advert, yet Vauxhall is only badged as such in the UK?

Is that the advert that says it is OK to be distracted while driving because if you have a crash, the car will call the emergency services and everything will always turn out well.?

If so I hate the advert too.

I was surprised, given that Onstar's still going, given it is about the same age as Trafficmaster, and that's now defunct... however, I do like pointing out to people 'yeah big woop, Onstar - my car had that as as option nearly 20 years ago' (ok, so Onstar didn't technically come in on Omegas until the MFL, but they don't know that, haha  :D )

When the lad asks, in a piss-taking manner, whether the neighbours car has all the benefits of Onstar, he should really turn round and say "No, but a least it's not a poxy Vauxhall, you snidey little shit".  ;D

I can see the benefit of the crash alert bit,if you're in a bad enough crash to be in no fit state to notify anyone/or haven't a clue where you are for whatever reason.I can just about push to seeing the benefit of Wi-Fi connection,if you carry kids about a lot it might keep them quiet! What I can't see is what you can control from your phone and why you'd want to :-\

Isn't the onstar system the one that allows hackers to remotely take over your car? If so I'll skip it

Also, ive never yet been in a car and thought "you know what, this car would be much better if it came with Facebook" - what a joke.
