Zirk tip of the evening, based on fuffing around for the last 2 days trying to fix something that shouldn't have broken in the first place.
Don't install Windows 10. Its SHITE.

Windows 10 is absolutely brilliant. I've updated Win8 on two of my laptops, fresh install on another, and.... I can't complain. :y

no problems after I resolved an issue with a Radeon graphics card adaptor

Desk top is fine with windows 10, the laptop kept dropping the WiFi signal though and I never managed to sort out why but has since died a terminal death.
Just got a second hand laptop from eBay and installed windows 8.1 and sticking with that for now.

i'M WITH Zirk on this one.
I hate computers. We should be their master but it is the other way around.
I have been away for a month. Go to use hotmail. It opens but you cannot reply to an Email just read it. I do a search and there are loads of similar issues from this month. I didn't change anything. So I have spent the day changing stuff to no avail and then updating the PC to Win7 from Vista and guess what it still doesn't work. :o :'( Funnily enough it does work on Mrs V's gaming PC that runs XP.

same here all the hype and waiting and when it finally down loaded and installed it was great dane shite so straight back to windows 7,think I had it for 2 days :)

I use, daily, Win7 on my desktop, Win 8.1 at work and Win 10 on my laptop.
Whats my favourite? None. Whats my least favourite? Win8, without a doubt. Win8 is a fantastic OS let down by an absolutely woeful (inconsistent, non intuitive) user interface. Win10 overcomes the majority of Win8's interface shortcomings, and is now supremely stable. Win7 never had these shortcomings in the first place, but is getting long in the tooth now.
I had a couple of issues with Win10 on my laptop, the biggest being its age meant the WiFi adapter wasn't supported by Intel, despite having a driver that "almost" worked (but occasionally wouldn't connect when booting, needing reboot to resolve). Disabling the power management on the adapter solved that one. But remember my laptop is 8 years old....

Disabling the power management on the adapter solved that one. But remember my laptop is 8 years old....
Thats the problem I had, mine was around the same vintage, though it`s untimely death meant I never got round that one.
Just got a HP 8460 from ebay for £76 and just running 8.1 at the mo as HP don`t list any Win 10 drivers on the website.

The only thing which won't is the fingerprint scanner. You can DIY install the Lenovo driver to resolve that, though. (I don't use the fingerprint scanner.... I seem to not have any recognisable fingerprints) ;D Oddly, the iPhone recognises me just fine.... and the Police! ::)

Works just fine on my laptop (Acer Extensa 5235) but it needs a lot of RAM really to run it, my laptop is maxxed out on RAM so am thinking of upgrading the laptop to something a bit more modern.... It is around 6 years old now LOL

Win10 32bit runs "OK" in 1GB and absolutely fine in 2Gb. Stay away from 64bit until you've got more than 4Gb.
Most laptops built in the last 7 or 8yrs easily support that amount :)
