If you cant get anyone then try a few quotes for a car delivery off ebay ect , wouldnt have thought it would be too much  :y Thats what i do anyway and some work out just as cheap as collecting it yourself plus you dont have the hassle of the travelling .

Or you can hire a trailer for £50 but then you need to put fuel in there and back so worth getting a quote for all in delivery  ;)

I wouldn't drive it with a crank sensor problem.

Yes, but you wouldn't drive an Omega without a crank sensor problem either :P

Even better, simply insure it, tax it, drive it as far as you dare/it will let you then ring the AA :y

Funny you say that was just thinking the exact same thing  :y I did ring green flag they said they wouldn't do it because was untaxed and uninsured so I did think about that but I wasn't planning on using it straight away as wanted to sell the shogun first  :'(

What happens when crank sensors packup  :-\ Do they just not want to start when engine gets warm or is it a complete breakdown job  :-\

Theoretically, the car wont even move, the engine is dead. However I have seent hem driven short distances, and of course the CS can be intermittent initially. If it's the CS, why not get a new one, fit it there and then, then drive the car back? Me and Paul fitted two wishbones on the drive before he bought my old Turbo Weasel, it's not uheard of to do some basic 'mechanicing' on a car before removing it from the former keeper' property  :)

Suppose it's a 'pays your money, take your choice' thing

- assuming it's the CS you can un-sorn, insure, tax and drive the car back fine, upon fitting said CS up the bloke's drive. Saves you maybe £85 quid on trailering/delivery. If it's the CS.
- Pay the £85 or whatever for delivery, get it back home, after 1/2 you fit the new CS, and if the car fires up sweet as a nut, then in hindsight, the £80-odd delivery was a waste of money.

Only thing is, either way, you're still going to have to fit a new CS, whatever you do.

'Tis a gamble...

Getting someone else to pick it up on a trailer is by far the Easiest / Safest / Legal'est

Years ago i use to risk driving cars back then wished i'd gone with the trailer option while sitting for hours on end waiting for a lift or a tow  ::) And i presume that the days of towing someone on a rope has gone and illegal  :-\

There`s always shiply.com, it`s like ebay in reverse for shipping things, company`s bid for your business, I was going to use it a few years ago for getting an Omega from Scotland to Leeds, I ended up loosing out as the guy decided it gone before I could get it collected.

That can run then cut out then just not start. Quite popular on the v6 I think. My 2.2 dti I lost my Rev guague then it just stalls then not start again, some one with more experience would put it right if I'm wrong  :y

In English: Just an update. The omega is on it's way to me now. Followed by a knowing wink which means the mode of transport may not be strictly legal.

Yeah sorry in English the omega is on its way (here now ;-)), I don't know how to turn auto correct off it drives me mad, the wink was just a wink, all the time I've been asking for a recovery truck service I ring my uncle to book an m.o.t for shogun and I asked him and he said yes I have one I was like I should of just rung you to start with lol, never mind cost me 40 pound for his fuel so a bonus really.
