I'm not quite sure how many she has had in the last three years but we are probably getting close to double figures.

With discount codes I paid £579. She is way too old to use it for gaming so it probably has enough power for her needs.

If the Laptop has fans inside and you end playing games, watch films etc, make sure the fans are clear the NVIDIA setup doesn't like getting hot. ;)

I would never recommend *anything* with discrete video graphics in a laptop. Too unreliable. The on-CPU Intel graphics are plenty good enough for anything except gaming.
If you can tolerate the larger keyboard size, this i5 looks like good value, and isn't Pavillion shite
