So thought i should establish a tread of my Omegas that'll also be kind of repair diary. Here's a pic of them, will do a propper fotosession after i reveal my wife her cristmas present ::)
And i will make my first entry on repair.
The blue one got a new cranck sensor today, also changed ignition switch and oil. Here's an example how the oilfilter should not look like (http://s17.postimg.org/61rg3rg4f/WIN_20151206_115404.jpg)
Also went through the fusebox and discovered this(http://s1.postimg.org/kvm08jmhb/WIN_20151206_134925.jpg) What could be the cause of that ???

I don't know if it's because I'm not used to seeing them but it does look nice with the Opel grille on.Oil filter was about due wasn't it?I'd check out whatever it is that those fuses protect and if possible the wiring to/from those to the fuse box.In the meantime keep a very close eye on the replacement fuses in case of a repeat performance.Others as always will know far more than I do.

Nice cars! :y
Oh someone had let the oil burn well :D
I would recommend to check if the fuses are right size :y
If they are, what they are for? I'm just wondering if you use a lot seat heater or other big system that takes a lot current... lots of current can make things get hot in long use.
But still very unusual thing to happen.... :o

The 20amp was correct size and it's for emergency flash, the 30amp was to big(20amp right size according to fuse socket color) and if i remember correct it's for heated seats.

Finally got time to replace thermostat on the 3 litre. There was the originaal thermostat in place so never been changed. And a OEM part took its place so probably safe for another soon to be 16 years :o

God damn it was tricky to get the bolt back for transfer pipe. Took at least 2 extra sigarets and plenty of hard language ::) After some brutal force on bending pipes/wiring out of the way it was all back in place.
And when testing it on idle i found the most probably cause of my coolant loss, a cracked expansion tank
(http://s11.postimg.org/53p05al83/WIN_20160110_182607.jpg)
Started to diagnose the windows not working problem. Checked the wiring in and between the drivers door with no luck so far :'( Need to dig deeper i guess.
The 2,5 litre car thermostat also giving first signs of failure, so this is up next.
-
Yeah the "bastard bolt" :D
I had exactly same problem with the coolant tank :)
Is it possible that the windows not working properly, could cause the fuses problem? Or do you have solved the fuses problem?

We have a swear box here just for that job :D

Hi again,
Time for some Update.
Let's start with oil change for 2,5l car. Sounds like easy job. Well thanks to last guy who did it it wasn't. The sump plug was stripped, badly.
So had to remove the sump, cut the old plug and improvise a new one. Luckily a standard M14x1,5 polt did the trick :y

Next up brakes for 2,5l car. The piston got sticky for passenger side caliper due to damaged rubber. So bought a replacemebt kit and refurbished both front calipers.
Lets get started. Lock the brakeline.
Undo brake line and remove caliper

This broken is.

Extracting the piston by inserting a bolt.
Ahaa! Totally salvageable. Only minor surface rust. Wirebrush to clean. NO SANDING!
Inside caliper all good.
Old vs. New.
The same caliper after meeting mr. Elbowcrease. Also painted them in red(+20hp ;D).
Now getting the piston back can be a pain in the arse. I taped it with rubber hammer until it held up straight on the inner o-ring, after that its just pressing it home all the way.
And its good idea to paint the caliper after the piston is put back in or you will f*** up the paintwork as i did :'(
And finally a teaser of the summer wheels ::)

Since I had a sort of day off I decided to re-paint the calipers.
