You know, dingy bars, beer, smoke, peanuts, 6 string, an amp and pretty women. Thoughts?

I can`t speak for England but in Leeds and Bradford the scene has died on it`s arse, nothing in these cities anymore I`m sad to say, I think there is one bar in Leeds on a Friday night and once a month there is the rock of ages, used to be three rooms in Leeds University now it`s just a small room in a pub and Bradford has lost two clubs and as far as I know no more have opened.
Hull seems to be a little better though and Beverley seems to have more than their fair share of rockers :y

Nostalgia - Cavern Club L/Pool early 60s, sweat running off the walls, Beatles before they hit the money, Eel Pie Island London, same era, all the top rock acts, Stones etc, Chiselhurst Caves, Bromley, same era - Stones, Bowie, Yardbirds and more.
Mid to late 60s - Uni - SU social club - top acts, Stones, Beatles, M Mann, Gerry & Pacemalkers, Stevie Winwood, Cream, even Chuck Berry bought over from US.
That was my youth - sadly these venues with these class of acts don't exist anymore in the UK. :'(

Best place to look now are local boozers, some of them have some really good local bands on now and again. Pot luck really. 8)

I hear you, boys. If anything i have always considered THE kingdom as the land of rock music. Be it hard, soft, pop or younameit kind of rock.

We are fortunate as we have Rock City in Nottingham, seen many a band there from Oasis to Iron Maiden, the owner at the time had photos of Kurt Cobain sat at the bar after his gig drinking and chatting to the fans!
