just spotted this on my daily ebay trawl... I have posted up a pic of Mk I Carlton before, to a tirade of hate ::) they're not known as one of the world's most beautiful cars, however, it certainly comes under the banner of 'when did you last see one?' Just thought I'd put it up on here, in case anyone fancied either a moneypit project, with no financial reward, or indeed a spares car.
This is, after all, exactly what most of our cars will look like in 20 years - if we're lucky!
-
It'll be a bumpy ride on those tyres. Luckily they're only flat on one side (and it's not the bottom!)..
-
Impractical restoration that one. It would cost a lot more to do up than it was worth at the end.
-
Yeah! tell me about it,happens with Omegas as well ::)
-
Clearly not a Lotus Carlton. I'm disappointed. :( ;)
-
Guess the fork lift hasnt done much damage underneath ::)

Tas on the forks in the pic...cowboys

What's Tas doing on the forks?

Did once have a Mk1 Carlton.Timing chain rattled like a cellar full of skeletons, used more oil than petrol-used to blow it out through the air filter :D :D :D but it was as reliable as anything, never failed to start, never broke down.Finished up straight swapping it for a 2.2sc Rover P6 :y
-
Someone said there's a car you haven't owned? Is this true, Baza? :y
Adore P6s, it's on the car bucket list :)

Actually, done properly it is no different to lifting with a beam jack on a ramp/pit ;) ;)
Mind you, looking at the rest of the pics I doubt they take much care ::)
-
Well DBG,I've never had an Audi nor a Saab or come to that a Rolls Royce but that's not far off it! :D Rolls ownership is on to do list before I turn my toes up :y
-
Well, you seem the sort of chap who likes a saloon with high running costs, and hard to source parts - I think Audi, Saab, then Rolls in that order works rather well!
But, only live once, sod, it, do it. Shadow? Or older, so a Cloud? Or newer, are Seraphs getting 'cheap' these days? :)
-
Given a sizeable lottery win it would without any hesitation be a Cloud III.More realistically I'd be looking at Shadow/Wraith or a Spirit/Spur.I do much prefer saloon cars to hatchbacks/estates,and it's hardly my fault, well ok I suppose it is :D That I again far prefer big cars with preferably big engines :y
-
Good man!
First car, Royale 2.8 (that wasn't a sensible or clever move ::))
Omega 2.5 Turbo Weasel (got me from a to b, and sideways plenty 8))
Omega 2.5 V6.
Next will be a XJ / XK8
Just realised I'm going down in displacement! Oh dear!!!
Best get a Dodge Viper next, then! :)
-
How down in displacement?Unless you're talking about the "series"XJ then the smallest petrol engine was the 3.2,unless you're coming forward to X350 in which case I think they did a 3L V6 or a V6 2.7 diesel.Smallest XK8 was 4L,later upped to 4.2 :y

2.8-2.5-2.5 ::)
