Title: Clean Lazy Stat?
Post by: tunnie on 14 December 2015, 08:53:03
On the 2.2, I've noticed the stat is getting a bit lazy. Even after 20 mins at 50mph (M3 road works) it's still only at 80. Clear the road works, get to normal 80mph cruise and it's about 82/83.

Sometimes in stop/start work this morning, it does get up to 85 and stay there. But over the hour run to work, it's staying at 80 most of the time.

Normally it would sit bang on 85 all the time.

Is it worth taking it off, soaking it in Plusgas or something? As it does appear to open fully at times and stay there, just appears to be a bit "sticky"  :-\

Stat is around 85k/8 years old, was last changed at 100k.

Or is it just time for a new one? Reason to ask about cleaning, is it's very easily accessible unlike the V6.

On yours and others advice i changed mine because of it running around 82deg,,i bought a Quinton Hazel stat that came in a kit with gasket and a cardboard tube to use to release the stat from the housing all for around £15..along with heater flushing i can honestly say that in all my 10/11 omega 2.2 i have never had one that heats up so quickly and delivers so much heat within 2 miles as this one,,so with respect mr.tunnie..take your own advice and as said on here get your wallet out and buy a new one..treat yourself for Christmas...you know it makes sense ,,,cheers matey  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Mr Tunnie has a reputation for being as 'tight as a ducks arse' with his money.

Can't think why. :)

At under a tenner for a new one, you would have to have more time than I do not to fit a new one. And I'm unemployed!

Like anything off egay, nobody can answer. Christ knows what you will get.

If you're too tight/lazy to look elsewhere, take a punt, if its any good then happy days, if its shite, well, what do you expect from egay?

AGP?

(Just tried to check their website for you as I was feeling generous.. but I don't seem to be able to get it to do anything other than say "An error has occurred" after selecting the car)

Yeah already checked AGP, need to call them. Site never works too well, normally things listed under Opel.

I need to escape work on time and get to dealer.

On that subject does anyone have the part number? Cheers  :y

If you have TC, they should deliver - assuming you can guarantee someone will be in.

Heathrow to Surrey/Hampshire border? Not sure they would go that far, plus TC account is not in my name  ::)

I don't know what your dealers are down there.

Your local TC dealer will deliver to your registered TC address.

Looking at it, that's just the stat. Did you re-use the original housing?
