...for a 98 Mfl petrol 2.5.
Screen wash full no water - MOT advisory
anyone?
Mattthew

Have you cleaned the filter?
Daft point I know, like 'have you put petrol in it' but these are very common to get clogged up over time, and people don't know they're there. Mine was MoT advisory, too on this, that's all.

That's the upside down top hat if I recall?

Yeah, with perforations, they get gunked up with what looks like gentleman's juice :D
-
...or maybe that's just my cars :D ;D :y

Saloon or estate?
-
Hi,
it's an Estate (in case you'd forgotten) - oh you obviously have

Remind me, is it front bumper off to clean it? (please tell me no, please......)

Nooo! Worry not.. PFLs it's not, and FL the access is even easier.
Open bonnet, behind where the grille would sit, on your right/NS dig down and pull the motor out from the reservoir, the little rubber johnny should be self-evident. :y

Standard washer pump, but cleaning basically the same

......pump right in the middle so Bumper off unfortunately.... :-[ :-\
all sorted anyway, please lock
-
Just to clarify, for future readers... cleaning the filter out is just a bonnet open job, but to replace the pump whole will be a bumper off job, as you found out. :)
Glad you're sorted now, sorry it wasn't just gunk in the system :(
-
Geezer,
I think the pump was knackered because the filter was full of gunk, and it wore out the motor as it couldn't pump anything past the blockage.
Thanks for your help and as already mentioned, sorted now :y

Good stuff :y
