Have you heard the joke about the idiot Signum driver?
Here goes.
Idiot Signum driver fills his car with petrol and then leaves the cap on the roof of the car before driving off.
I'm sure you can guess the rest. :'(
Best place to buy a new cap, chaps? Presumably it doesn't need to be of the 'locking' variety because of the lockable flap. :-\
Petrol seems to be staying in the tank. :y
-
Aren't they 'pretty much' universal? Vectra, Astra, Omega, Corsa etc?
-
A certain well know auction site will sell you one for under £5 with free delivery.
Such as this one (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Signum-Vectra-Zafira-Petrol-Cap-Fuel-Cap-New-/200507696631?hash=item2eaf30a5f7:g:RxkAAOxyzrFR56iA)
But as DBG says, they are shared over several models I think. Certainly the one in the picture looks the same as my MIG one. Maybe someone on here has a spare?

I would think so, Mr DBG.
About a fiver on Ebay. I'll just check if the one of our Corsa C fits. :y

Thanks...I must type faster. Your link is exactly the one I was looking at. :y

.....
Surely the cap has a temporaray home on the filler cap like an Omega & Astra ........ ???
-
Yes it does........

Yes it does........
operator error then ........ ::) ::)

I meant to say Mrs Opti filled the car with petrol and not me.
That's girlies and cars for you. :)
-
As punishment I've 'borrowed' the cap from her Corsa until the new one arrives. :)
-
This is what I love about Vauxhall - the parts commonality. :)

Oh yeah ;D Watch out for the flying pig laptop ::) ;D ;)
-
Gave one of my spare ones to a work mate, (not the Black & Decker one) for his Astra. He was well chuffed.

Only once have I had to replace a fuel filler on one of my cars, my old Corsa... Coincidentally it was after my mother borrowed it to run around in for a day. I made her go to the parts counter and explain what she'd done, looking sheepish.

That's nothing!
My Missus once left her fuel cap at the petrol station. Nothing unusual about that from the blonde bint, until you learn it was the type of fuel cap you use the KEY to remove.
And before you do, don't ask............ I just don't know!
-
"I had to break it into pieces to get the key back out"
-
A bit of old rag stuffed in the filler would have done not so long ago. ::)
-
Never left a fuel cap anywhere but I have, however, had to go and buy a replacement oil filler cap. Twice.
-
Hmm... stupidest thing I ever did - not car related - but I did once walk into a tree in the middle of a forest. ;D

I once whittled an oil fillercap from a broken fencepost. With some duct tape to hold it in place, the customer was happy to continue their trip.

A bit of old fashioned make and mend :y

And a big tick in the temporary repair box on the paperwork 8)

Makes more sense than walking into one in, say, a bathroom.

I bought a new oil filler cap for the wife's car. I let the old one drop down past the engine and it nestled nicely on the under tray. Scraped a lot of skin off trying to get it from the top and couldn't be arsed taking the tray off. It may still be there. ;D

I lost one on the Omega in exactly the same way - never did find out where it had gone..
Lost one on the MR2 and got it back six years later when I took the rear bumper off and it fell out from in between the rear arch liner and the rear bumper :-[ So then I had a spare.. ;D

Did you not hear a rattle? :)

In an MR2 the passenger's screaming as you spin again drowns out all rattles. And the sound of the rust falling off ;D
-
There was no rust on my Mk3 ;) (especially not the well oiled engine bay after that!)
Couldn't hear the rattle over the ridiculous exhaust and turbo though ;D

Just go to any petrol station and say you think you left your fuel cap behind when you filled up and they will probably hand you a box full and ask if its one of them(they do around here-lots of forgetful people) If they don't have one try the next petrol station.

I recon bear grylls would have been chuffed with that one too.

Must be a lot of older omega owners, in your area.
Also better than walking off with a petrol cap,and forgetting the car. ;D
