Title: correct replacement HID bulbs
Post by: markh1 on 18 December 2015, 12:58:51
Gents,

I read somewhere on here that the HID bulbs in an Omega are D2S but just wanted to confirm (I can't find the post I was looking at)

These are what I am thinking of buying...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-35W-D2S-HID-XENON-BULBS-OEM-REPLACEMENT-PHILIPS-BMW-VW-MERCEDES-AUDI-E-MARK-/111378703156?var=&hash=item19eeb02334:m:mzeE06z88nEN9B7-313GK_w

Mine still work but have never been changed and are dulling.

I have cleaned up the headlamp lenses so they are nice and clear but still think the lights should be brighter

I will get a set of those bulbs and report back as to how good they are

There have been reports of short life and fire with unbranded bulbs.

You may be lucky, and they will be fine

however the 'advice' is stick to osram or phillips from a reputable source.

I had chinese cheapies in a car some years back, they were fine, but not as quite bright as they should have been.

I bought a pair of Hungarian Phillips DS2 bulbs a while back and they worked ok on my old Elite.  Still have another pair somewhere I got for the old Elite Estate, but never fitted.  Can't remember cost but they were fairly cheap.

Having seen so many cheap HID bulbs, I paid extra for Osram.  Approx £25 each, delivered, IIRC, from a reasonably reputable source (ie, not egay, ECP or Amazon Marketplace)
