Title: Very lucky moron
Post by: BazaJT on 19 December 2015, 15:42:46
A young lad[late teens]was sat on his pushbike whilst on the pavement talking to a couple of his friends when he saw across the road a couple more people he wanted to talk to.So off he shot no hesitation no looking absolutely nothing but getting to other side of road.he'd only just made it off the pavement when the approaching car wiped him out.In doing so it wrecked his bike and catapulted him to other other side of the road where a car coming the other way!!!Lucky? most certainly, yes his bike was wrecked and yes when ambulance crew arrived they found that although suffering numerous injuries that'll most likely keep him in hospital over Xmas, they figured nothing fatal so he'll survive to cycle another day.Witness statements given to police[not just mine]basically absolved either car driver from blame-they really didn't have a chance to miss him.So I guess I'll have to wait and see if I'm contacted over the matter in the near future.A moments moronic stupidity on his part could so easily have resulted in a fatality.

Very lucky. But there seems to be a mind set in kids these days that the traffic will always stop for them no matter what ....... watch kids come out of school on mass, head down into their phone & off they wander, whether that the pavement or the road

I did exactly the same as a teenager, although I was lucky that only one car hit me.  ::) I was riding along past my mates house when he called out from his garden. I turned in the road without looking and got thrown in the air by a car that was right behind me. I didn't hear it, I didn't see it, all because I was in a world of my own, oblivious to anything around me.

I've highlighted the bit above as although I was not too badly injured, and there was no damage to his car, that man came around my parents house every evening after work for a week to check that I was ok.
It was completely my fault but it had made him feel physically sick to think what could have been. My parents told him that it was my fault but it had clearly really upset him, a knock on effect that youngsters don't consider.

A small number of youths, boys and girls, seem to taunt the car driver by deliberately taking their time whilst crossing the road.

It's as though they are saying f*ck you......I'll take as long as I like ....run me down if you dare.

One could have lots of fun if one were diagnosed with a terminal illness. :)
