Front OS pipe corroded and fractured at the point it goes through the wing earlier, luckily MrsGK knows how to drive and so stopped him on the handbrake, recovered home. Shall be renewing all the pipes on the Special before it hits the road...
However! Brake warning light works perfectly with handbrake operation, but even as I moved round the yard and forgot I had no brakes, lamp still didnt illuminate... stuck pressure sensor?
MV6 now sitting in the corner and thinking abiut what hes done...

Ta chap! I was at work and she rang me to let me know... neither her or I have the panic gene so she quite calmly told me that he was being a little bugger :)

The warning lamp is for brake fluid level, not pressure. A broken pipe like that won't instantly empty the master cylinder, so the lamp won't illuminate.
Good to hear that everybody is OK.

With a dual circuit brake system there should still be some braking effort available from the other front wheel (but it might require pressing the pedal into the carpet).

Cylinder definitely empty now! Still no lamp...

Someone has had the bulb out then... there are two lights iirc :-\

I had a similar experience with a rear brake pipe... It certainly woke me up as I was coming down a slip road, approaching a roundabout at a reasonable ( :-X) speed during the end of rush hour!

Indeed, given a choice between brake failure and steering failure, I would take brakes every time...

Glad all are well, and hope you get the brakes sorted soon. I hope this hasn't marred her experiences of Russelsheim's finest!
