Yellow relay #9
-
Cheers pal... is this a known problem here? ...
-
I shall pop to stealers tomorrow and get one..
-
Have you checked there is a feed to the wiper motor?
Feel free to diagnose by chucking parts at it.... I prefer a more systematic approach.
-
well i swapped over the wiper stalk and relay with another but to no avail... dead as a dead thing... washers work fine though... i woudnt know how to test for a feed to the motor anyway....
-
Don't through parts at it, as it could be several things, all as equally liable to fail. Simply check for the correct voltages step by step :)
-
I have the scuttle off and the plug out of the motor.. just waiting for neighbour to come home with his multimeter..
Out of interest is there any part of the wiring loom for the wipers connected to the washer system as it seems coincidental that this fault occured after i topped up screen wash for first time in ages.. chaffed wire there? Got wet when topped up water?. I am as you can see p*****g in the wind here..
-
Do the wipers work with the washers or are you just getting nothing at all from the wipers?

M11 is the motor, K10 the yellow relay.
Brown wire the earth so sticking a feed on the white or yellow should test the motor me thinks.
-
neighbour says theres power in the cable so assumed its the motor its self.... do motors just go kaput just like that or normally give some indication before hand?.. to answer previous question the wipers dont work at all but the washer jets do
-
even thou you have power its worth earthing the motor directly as looking at the diagram the relay works by earthing the motor.
-
Well ive bit the bullet and ordered a brand new motor... may seem to be a knee jerk reaction but cant see what else it can be..
-
Also looking at the diagram is a bit like looking at a plate of spaghetti.

Evening guys... could someone please find me the "how to" link on replacing the front wiper motor? Just the motor is being changed not the arms/links ...
Regards..

Dont think we have one on that specific job.
Scuttle and wipers off as per http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=111517.0
Then remove linkages and motor, replace motor and refit. Pic of mech in this guide http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=117001.0
-
So theres no alignment marks or stuff like that?.. just curious incase there maybe a " you must not do this" or " ensure you do that" kinda thing..

Take clear pics before you remove the arms from the motor to be sure to reconnect them correctly ;)
-
And what could possibly go wrong there then 😃

your wipers will park ....... but not necessarily at the bottom ;) ;)

They will do some interesting damage as they attempt to sweep past the scuttle. If they get that far.
If just replacing the motor, all you need to undo is the yellow nut for the linkage, and the three red bolts for the motor:

That photo also gives a pretty good idea how the linkage needs to be clocked to the motor.
While you have the wiper assembly off the car it is definitely worth giving the balljoints a squirt of lubricant
