BREAKING NEWS
Man found hanging upside down from the clock tower of Brackey & Brunel University after taking photographs inside a scrapyard.
-
loL!! whats wrong with taking pics in side a scrappy?
Its not as if anyone can steel the cars!! there are not going anyware in that condition!!
Smiths are very freindly place, everything is a tenner there. i got about 6 peices of interior trim, took it to the office... thats a tenner pls...
alloys with rubber a tenner
maybe even get an autobox for tenner! ;D
-
God!! friendly scrappies!!!????
Up here they growl at you going in and fleece you on the way out incase you have stolen a bulb!!????
-
you see many buldging pockets on people's trousers exiting smithys....
The cars are in one section and there main busieness is in the other, a massive hedge seperating it, no one from the scappy is in the car section just full of kids and other people ripping out there needs.
I was after 225, 55, 15 rubber for project A could not see any in there usual pile, asked and they suggested 2 places to check in the business section. Not usually allowed to wonder down there as there are car crushers, weighers and trucks, but you can wonder on in there.
Great fun watching them pick up cars and crushed into a cube....
the boss of smithys turned up in a Bentley Contienatal, number plate was SOB 1. (smiths of bloxham)... so he must be doing something right!
oh and there aren't any dogs there! :)
-
Tunnie
Do you know if any of them has got the auto tilt rear view mirror?
Cheers
Dave

Well I guess as they have to strip the cars before they can crush them.....letting other people do it for them and getting to charge some of them a tenner for the privilage....aint a bad idea ;)
-
errmmm not sure. Its not something i looked for TBH...
The best spec car in there is the M Reg CDX... there is a P reg CDX but thats been really picked over.
90% sure there is not one, unless early CDX ones had them as standard?
-
I love scrappies. There's not very many left who'll let you wander round scavenging bits any more though.
-
RonladMcBurger could spend a lifetime in there restoring all these cars..... ;D
-
;D while on the subject of scrappys in this particualr area( Smiths of Bloxham is 15mins from me) may be worth a visit to P.C. autos of Oakley too as they have 4 Omega in there 3 saloons and an estate and a very late plate latest shape one!!! nHe charged me 20quid for a sunroof motor which i thought was ok ;D

Sounds interesting, do you have an address for them, were abouts are they? I am in Brackley.

I know i love it there, scrappy near my nans in Surrey are all crap, big signs saying "No Enter" on the walkway into the Yard.
-
Well, what great pics! Takes me back to the days as a school kid where I used to spend entire summer holidays in a local scrappy taking engines apart - right at the back of the yard in a corner - never got disturbed and it was great fun. Then the yard closed and all the others quickly followed...........
I think I will have to take a trip down there soon - those alloys on that CDX look excellent - a couple of the wheels on my car are not too great.
Thanks again for taking the time to do this Tunnie, as said in my Rear Blind thread - it is appreciated! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Thinking about this, I might even take a day off work this week to go!
-
wow!! day off work! you must like the look of it!
I think that CDX alloy is the only one.... if i remember right there was no other alloys on that one.
I would't go up there if your just after alloys... as i think there is only 1 and it might have been taken when you come up.
Unfortunetly I won't be around until friday now, away at my nans. So if you want to pop up there on friday ... [smiley=thumbup.gif]
-
Yep, I do like the look of it.
TBH looking for other bits as well as the alloys for example, switches, a few trim clips etc. I am fortunate as my car is totally original right down to the battery cover!
If I come on Friday, I will let you know.
-
cool, i should be around at the weekend as well...

I would recommend taking all the relays (in the ecu box) off one of the v6's as they can be very very useful.
Also worth grabbing some fuses from under the steering column.
When you are next down there... take a look at theose Senator alloys on one of the cars, can be sold for decent money...
-
No Dogs, Thats unusual I normally end up standing in a dog turd the size of a barge because im concentrating on not banging the bonce.

Will do....
I thought the alloys look like ones of the Carlton, did't realise they were Senny's.
I did think about taking them but i fogot to take be big socket thing to take off the wheel nuts..
