Title: Newbury Bypass
Post by: TheBoy on 06 January 2016, 18:44:13
I see "local" BBC news are creaming themselves up over the 20yr anniversary of the Newbury Bypass.

So they are interviewing the great unwashed and do-gooders. Blimey, there are some incredibly thick people in this world.

Apparently, dealing with protestors was 20% of the total cost :o.  Bullets would be cheaper.

Anyone have any views?

Where's Newbury?
Far too far from the coast for South Today to be covering it. Must be a slow news day

But it was the big protests all over the news for months at the time. And where that unwashed prick who called himself Swampy made his name (of being a lazy, work shy sponger)

Just 20?  ???

Anyone have any views?
I used to queue every blasted week for well over an hour to go through Newbury on my way home from Pompey. A PITA without the by-pass

Blimey! I remember flying over it on my first few cross country flights in the glider..

Every time, a bit more bypass appeared, and a bit of the runway at Greenham Common disappeared. ;D

i ran up and down that very stretch today ……..    on my way to/from  portsmouth,  then Froxfield,  Petersfield, then Chilbolton down,  then home…..

not sure what average speed was…..    ;)   MPG…..    i do know…..  pretty poor today…..  i was being a bit "get along quick"  …..  so only managed 46MPG over the 200 or so miles…. ……

bastard speed camera van on the 50mph run in to the M3 junction might possibly spoil my day in the post in the next week or so…..   oh well…….  license has been clean for far too long any way….

PS……  it's my first Diseasel…..    and …….   that's probably the last time i will ever call them that…….    plenty quick, and frugal, and comfortable….    damn…….  i don't care if it shares DNA with a ford…..  it's still rather great car….

That little bastard did all he could to stop the Batheaston Bypass too.  I'd happily shoot the little ...........

it's not the welsh's fault…….    given independence and border controls he'd never have made it there.
