Title: heater fan problem
Post by: duxy on 17 January 2016, 07:23:51
hi, can anyone advise what might cause passenger side heater fan to keep running after I turn ignition off.
I have disconnected battery to stop this,  :(

Faulty relay or thermoswitch...  Assume you mean the fan behind the grill...

It is designed to run after switch off to help cool the engine if it's a bit hot... The fact it does it in the current temps suggests an issue rather than normal behaviour...

There is a guide for checking the function of the radiator fans :y

OP said heater fan ..... I'd take that as the fan behind the glove box  :-\

If it's the blower still running then a new hedgehog is required...

If the fan keeps running after the ignition is off, its usually the "Hedgehog" fan speed controller has failed. Invariably, this happens because the scuttle drain has blocked, rainwater has filled the scuttle drain area, and overflowed into the cabin all over the fan and speed controller.

The speed controller can't be repaired, needs to be replaced. "Rather Expensive" new, so a good 2nd hand one would be way forward :)
