Title: Tilbo and friends with big engined cars
Post by: Varche on 17 January 2016, 15:27:27
Mr Tilbo. Your car will soon be worth double what you paid for it. Gas guzzlers like Omegas will rocket in price as the price of fuel continues to fall.

Diesel is 87 cents a litre here and unleaded 1.10 cents due to different tax structure to the UK.

Now that Iran is back in the game they will be flooding the market with yet more oil. No wonder Osborne is warning that the UK economic recovery is "fragile". He is no doubt factoring in even less tax take on oil and fuel sales. Not good for any economy relying on oil revenues! :(

What chance UK unleaded 75p a litre within 4 months? It is already at an artificial price compared to diesel in the UK.

The high level of taxation will stop it dropping much further, and expect Osborne to start hiking fuel taxes even further in the next budget.
I think of diesel will take a hammering from the treasury in the near future.

Why can I see a 5p a litre hike coming in the budget. :(

5p? Not a problem until crude oil starts going up. I can't see that happening for a while.

I concur, Varche.

Nobody smokes anymore, nobody can afford to have a pint or two after work anymore, and now fuel is back to a reasonable price.

The Government will have to start taxing other things, like Cakes, Clothes and Tampons..... oh wait.

Will be picking up my 6.2 supercharged VXR8 next weekend,do I care about climate change etc?not really.....the car will be doing less than 3000 miles a year, and when compared with the millions of diseasels belching out crap on a daily basis and thousands of airliners dumping pollutants directly into the atmosphere...do I need to mention the countless other types of polluters that are doing the real damage, resting case ::)

Iv said it for a long time that diesels pollute a lot more than petrol does.... and jet fuel is polluting about as much too...

I read somewhere that jet fuel is one of the dirtiest fuels, and the thinking on diseasels is also now changing as to the damaging effects on our general health :-\

It is a proven fact that burnt diesel, in the past 10 years  (because more people are choosing derv engined cars), has put out more carbon deposits than petrol ever has done, jet fuel Im not sure about but its basically paraffin which is a by product of diesel production... yes I know diesel is a by product of the petrol production before anyone gets on their high podium....

I have never owned a diesel engine car, I dont think I ever will do TBH... I like big engined petrol cars... just my personal preference, it doesn't mean that anything is wrong with derv cars - except they are noisy - dirty - smelly and polluting vehicles....

We have 2 petrol & 1 diesel  the diesel 4x4 weighs 2.5 tons bought it as a workhorse pulls the caravan (1800kgs) with ease & returns 27 mpg when towing  30 - 36 solo & plenty of space for grand kids & dogs , the Merc is my Toy  everyone if they are a true petrol head would want a  V8 of some kind ,SWMBO got fed up trying to find spaces to park with the Omega estate , so swopped for a Panda which she loves. I just buy what fits the bill in all honesty I don't consider pollution , however I would not drive anything that belched clouds of smoke !! All are maintained properly so that's me doing my bit .
