Title: 2.2 dti elite
Post by: raywilb on 17 January 2016, 18:59:24
just purchased a 2002, 2.2 dti . it has a private reg D8 KWB. been trying for insurance quotes & apart from being high when put in the reg they come up with a bmw xi worth £22,000. so put a search with the dvla reg No & Vauxhall. they don't recognise the vehicle. can anybody tell me what I have to do. obviously the reg owner must have it on a car. iv,e  never come across this, & haven,t a clue :-\

where did you buy it from? If a dealer I'd be making enquiries there first. No idea of the legal position that you're now in

I Know Swansea can be very slow changing registrations over, my car had had a private number before I bought it, it was about a month before I could drive the car away from the dealers with its 'normal' plate on while waiting for Swansea .... if only there were still local offices

[/quote I was led to believe that reg remained on the car. the dealers advert said the plate came with it. do you know if its possible to do it online , just another ? of a different nature are you the Andy that helped Ian from York with the head gasket & timing gear. not to embarrass you but if you are . all I can say is top man & all the respect  :y :y

What did the vendor say about the "personalised" reg? Sounds to me as though it is now on a different vehicle and you will be allocated acooking one. If that is the case he has been a bit disingenious with his advert i.e. you have paid a smalll premium for something that doesn't exist.

I would ring the DVLA in the morning first thing and ask is it in transfer, you will need the VIN. It might be you just need a new set of number plates and the updated documentation.

It's really quick now Andy,I removed a plate online two weeks ago and had an email within the hour telling me to fit the original plates,I was a little shocked and rang the helpline which confirmed it was correct.

This one is of Guy & I trying to put his pop up tent back in the bag .... in the end it was folded into a ball & shoved in his boot.
