Can an air compressor be situated outside open to the elements or is that a no no :-\ I haven't got space in the shed but room next to it outside .
-
I wouldn't leave it outside to the elements, covered with say a tarpaulin might be OK :-\
-
Can you not construct a little wooden lean to to house it in?
-
construct a water proof wooden box covered with shed felt with a door to gain access to it if required..pass cable through hole in the wall from inside the box...best off also fitting a water drain into the air line inside your garage/workshop to catch the condensation that you will get in the air....always a good idea to fit this even if compressor is in the garage....I have done this and never had a problem...just make sure that you inspect the compressor on a regular basis to make sure all is well. :y

Get one of those plastic garden containers.

Thanks , a small lean to sounds just the job and thanks for the tip on draining
the excess water . Luckily i kept a store of the old wood from the demolished shed :y

That's exactly where I plan on situating mine (behind the 18x10' shed) when I get around to it.. if nothing else you'll still be able to hear yourself think in the shed when it kicks in! ;D

Mine has lived outside against the wall for about ten years. I've nowhere else to keep it.
-
A regular pull/twist of the tank water drain will also be needed especially if sited outside. Once a month should suffice

I try to drain mine at least fortnightly, and some nasty shite often comes out of it ;D
In fact I did it earlier today, because I'm a good boy :)
Not sure I'd leave mine out, as its the usual Chinese tat (mines Clarke, but same as Sealey/Aldi/Airtools/ACME), I'd give it 3 months outside....

97dB would be quite an ear basher in close proximity so just as well its going outside where it will annoy the neighbours ::) If its too loud maybe put some insulation in the compressor housing . It shouldnt cut in and out very much at all though .

Mine is in the garage at the moment - detached, concrete etc - and if I forget and leave it on I can hear it cycling at night when I'm in bed, about 15m from the garage.. :-X
Which usually prompts me to go outside and turn it off, at least! ;D Luckily none of the neighbours have been out and about while I'm doing that yet or they'd get a heck of a shock at the sight of me in my undercrackers.. ;D ;D

I would worry about the motor and electrics getting damp :-\
I had an electric chainsaw which I used to keep in a concrete sectional garage - it didn't get wet as such but after a period of damp weather I went to use it and it spewed a shower of sparks out of the motor and stopped :'(
That said - the compressor should have a TEFL (totally enclosed fan cooled) motor so maybe it is designed to cope with the damp :-\

Ive not seen anything that states it shouldn't be stored outside in the description but hope the little outside shed will keep it in good order . Only other thing i was thinking was to try and get it installed under one of the benches in the shed once the omega spares have been moved to another destination ::)

I used to. But I've had it over twenty years and it's been outside for most of them.
I did lose a mig welder to a damp shed, which let go with a nice bang.

If I could make space in the (drier) shed I'd move it in there and build a noise isolating cupboard for it.. but currenly there's barely enough space to walk around in there :-X :-X

+1 :( Its amazing how space gets eaten up with omega spares/oil/coolant/filters junk out of the house ::) Next thing you know its all in the back of the space bus ::)
