Post by: krabi_one on 28 January 2016, 21:03:43

after removal I went to buy some lightbulbs and i found some led - I thought why not to try.
there is result of it.. do you like it ? I honestly don't know ... I think gonna leave it now but might be day that it come back to normal bulbs.

I presume the main difference is greater brightness which I like very much. Helps my failing eyesight.
Where did you find them Krabi_one, and what type, please?

They fail to give the illumination, as the dash is not designed for it.

Given the correct bulbs virtually never fail, I know what I would use, and what I would recommend to others ::)

Looks a nice crisp light in the photo's.  :y  Be interesting to see how you get on with them.

Does the dimmer still work ok, as sometimes it's beneficial if Mrs YZ can't see the speedo.  ;D

Much too bright for me; I wish my dimmer could be turned down even further.

Hi,
the dim works with no problem on these led's.
but i think I bought the wrong ones - they point light too much just to the straight point.
So i ordered another ones - I think that be perfect solution ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272048364919?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=570861245030&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT ) but to chose warm white ,
what is 4000k so that should looks very good, it be probably just slightly lighter than genuine but not as light like mines now. and as well the light should be nicely stretched.

another option be http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262145748315?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT which be bright as mine but better ( the light should be dissolved a lot better) , I got ones where you can see 4 small led's on top.

anyway, I think it is not bad, definitely gonna stay with LED but only Im gonna try to make closer look to genuine but just slightly lighter ( I think that be a lot better option that inserting w5w normal bulbs , there should be w3w so LED will give more light without taking too much power )

The standard bulbs, if anybody ever needs to cross ref are 12v, 2w, part number 9195062.

Think a pack of 2 on Halfords trade was about 30p last time I bought some (admittedly a few years ago, as they never go).

That would seriously do my box in.

I know most people take the piss out of it, but the 'Night Panel' button on the Saab is a godsend.  I do a lot of Motorway driving at night, and even with the variable control to minimum, it's far too bright when everything is illuminated.  Hit the button and everything except the speedo (up-to 90MPH) is switched off.

Much easier to get half hour 'kip like that!

I've always thought that a good idea too, as I dislike a brightly lit dashboard. It's especially bad on modern cars with fancy screens, displays and lots of buttons that are illuminated.

Love to know how feasible that would be to retrofit... I suppose 'impossible' but there's no such word as 'can't' as they say...  :-\
