On my way to work this morning I saw a model of car I've not seen in I don't know how long.It was a bright red Reliant Kitten! To aid stability?some one had fitted either very big spacers or wide wheels complete with flared arches :o :o Whichever way they'd done it they were still braver than me driving one in the near gale force winds :D

At least it has a wheel at each corner as God intended. :y
-
A work colleague had one back in the 80s. He used to get quite personal when I called it a Robin with a spare wheel.
-
Iirc Ari Vatenen did his first rally in one of those. I wouldn't have wanted to have been the co driver. Vatenen was mental in a car made of steel. A plastic car with him behind the wheel doesn't bear thinking about. ;D

This was the flair in the 70/80's . Carlo's Fandango style :)

Matt red, by any chance? Seen it my way, Baza. There's a Suzuki badge on the front (?) maybe he's fitted a bike engine in there? Seen it up close parked and he's got a nice period looking bucket seat in there, extra dials etc. Looks a cracker.
So I can safely say you weren't hallucinating! :)
-
It was indeed red DBG,but seemed to me to be gloss as opposed to matt.Don't tell me there's two of the buggers about :D
-
You're all fixated on V8s, so here's John Beardmore's V8 Kitten from some time ago: http://www.beardmorebros.co.uk/website%20pages/reliant_kitten.htm (http://www.beardmorebros.co.uk/website%20pages/reliant_kitten.htm)
Not long after that, some other nutter put a 472ci(that's 7.7litre) Cadillac engine in one for fun at the track.
Makes the Midget engined one we played about with look tame. Not that tame kittens aren't fun ;D
-
I remember some years ago that someone local to me-in Mexborough at the time-put a 3.5 Rover V8 in the back of a reliant regal van, that thing went quite well,so what a 7.7L will do :o
-
Well, when I say matt finish, perhaps 30-year-old-gelcoat-finish would be a better description :y
Maybe there's a whole litter of the buggers, yes! :)

Perhaps one of them was the inappropriately named Reliant Rebel. :)
-
I did forget the Rebel, yes. It was definitely a Kitten, though. Next time I see it will try get a pic :)
-
Ha! Found this on my phone, I knew I'd taken a snap of the thing at some point. :D

We do like a moan on here, but isn't it wonderful to live in a country and a world where anyone can do something like the above, pretty much law-free. :) really impressive project, that. Reading up stuff like this always makes me feel like nothing but an child airfix modeller with my Omega! :)
-
Definitely a second one then DBG as the one I saw had much "sharper" flares over the wheels much like winglets.
-
There are two in N / N E Lincs!?! :o :o :o
They're nearly outnumbering Omegas!!!
