On moneysavingexpert.com there is a poll to give money to charity, Help for Heroes has been shortlisted from 600 chosen charities to receive donations from the site. There are 12 charities to chose from and 4 will eventually be chosen that could get up to £20,000 each.
The voting ends Tuesday 22nd July and it's currently 1st in the running.
Any help you OOFers can give to boost this charity would be gratefully accepted, it is a subject dear to me.
I hope the Admin staff don't object to this blatant advert .. if it is removed I'll understand :'( :'(

Thanks for the link I am always amased at how the lads who are so badly injured bounce back. A friend of mine was paralysed in Iraq earlier this year and he is already 3 months into a campaign to raise 1 million in 12 months! My current boss used to work at Headley Court (he's a physio) and he said it was the hardest yet the best job he's had so far.
Thanks to all that vote :y

They fight in our name (every day); what`s not to be grateful-for!
The tacit covenant is: they serve our Nation, so 'we' have to repay that with: respect (as befitting heroes), a decent pension and proper health care.
Our Government (and a long line of previous administrations) should be profoundly ashamed themselves for the way our armed forces have been/are being treated and maladministered! >:(

Thanks to anyone who has voted .. for those that don't know what H4H (Help for Heroes) is all about ..
"What is H4H all about? It’s about the blokes, our men and women. It’s about Derri, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It is about Ben, its about Steven and Andy and Mark, its about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

I have another Bee in my bonnet:
Why do UK business generally not give a Military Discount. Very few do and those that do dont advertise it well nor do their staff know much about it (from my experience) If companies wanted to show their appreciation for the soldiers, sailors and airmen putting their lives on the line then they could. Students, RAC members, etc all get discounts which are far more widely known than any military discount available.
Also why do some courrier companies charge more to deliver to BFPO addresses (British Forces Post Office) when all it entails for them is to deliver to an address in a London Sorting Office? The RAF then move it to wherever it has to go in the world after that.
Why is it that for tax and anything else that generates money for the Treasury we are considered UK residents (thus pay tax) yet when it comes to collecting Lottery Winning if we are stationned in Cyprus, Germany, Belize etc we are considered as living abroad! Several have fallen foul of this!
rant over.....for now >:(
