Yes I know and apologise in advance for not searching but, time is of the essence here.
I am not with the car, SWMBO is.
A new relay for the wipers has arrived and she needs to fit it.
Please, pretty please, a location of said relay (exactly, with no ambiguity) so precise instructions can be forwarded and the offending item replaced.
Once again I apologise for this :-[ ( I really should know this shouldn't I)
-
It's under the steering column ..... can't now remember which but IIRC it's the tallest one in there

Dunno Steve, :D

Me, hah, I'm in sunny Spain enjoying a mini heat wave.
I'll check the order and get back to you mate.

I'm doing not bad at all pal, still livin the dream ;)
The wash/wipe relay on my car is 90 494 187, I can't see any ending 753, what's the full number of the one you've got - it is the wiper relay you're changing yeah?
-
90191753 and yeah the wiper relay.
Symptoms were, intermittent function would stop, go to standard speed and back again and it would be OK for a while. Then you had to go to fast speed and back to intermittent to get them to wipe intermittently, if you get what I mean. Passed MOT last week but now (according to SWMBO) they have packed up altogether!
Yeah, I know I should have sorted it when first spotted but ran out of time and it was Xmas an all that.
Good to hear your doing fine buddy.
Sorry for delay in answering, a friend called up and said I'm in the bar, fancy a couple of cold ones!

Sorry Rob, was only looking at descriptions of 6 cyl diesels and missed K8 from previous descriptions and yes it is for intermittent wipers. Does the K8 do all, wash and wipe?
Think I made a boob on the order from flea bay! Doh!

Thanks for that Steven, and is that the tall yellow one under the bonnet, K8?

Some eBay sellers can be a bit un scrupulous that way ;)
Yeah, tall yellow one, although I've seen some genuine replacement ones in grey :D but original one would be yellow.
Enjoy the sunshine ya jammy so and so ;D

Pm me your reg and I'll double check on EPC for ya.

Chassis W0L000023V19##### (I've blanked the last 5 digits) confirms that it's the 90494187 relay you'll need, plenty on fleabay my man ;)
90494187 12 38 526 RELAY, DELAY, WINDSCREEN WIPER (C) T1000200- X1999999 1
-
Cheers for that MR. C.
SWMBO went to main stealers.......£56 :o
I told her I would have a look see for any that were next day delivery but it's raining in Forfar!
Thanks for that info mate.
Oh and just for interest, my 1989 VW hi top camper passed its annual test over here today.
-
Ouch! Hope they fitted it an valeted the car for that price :D
That's good the camper is legal for another year ;)
-
It's probably too late to be of any use . . . . but . . . you can get a VW Wiper relay which is programmable (see . . . http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=89242.msg1143978#msg1143978). It fits in the same socket under the bonnet no problem.
When you want an intermittent wipe you just switch the wiper off using the stalk on the steering and when you want the wipers to wipe you simply switch the intermittent wipe back on.
The relay remembers the delay and will wipe using that interval . . . if that makes sense. Simples !
I did this to my 2.2 DTi when I first got it a few years ago, and have never had any problems with that.
Hope this helps
-
Just as a follow on, that relay actually lives in the panel under the dash on mine? :o
As a further follow on, the old relay tested fine........it was the motor giving up >:(
so it's been put to rest for a while until I can get over there and fit another motor :(
Good thing is the main dealer did give a healthy discount from the quoted price down to £15! :y
I've seen second hand motors on the bay of e for around the £25 mark, would that be about right (that's with free postage)
I'll stick a wanted post up as well.
-
Got a motor here if ya wanna pop by on your way 😉
-
Aye well that's always an option but not sure when I'm going to UK just now, new job in the offing but it's based over here in Spain and I can envisage being pretty tied up with that to begin with.
Thank you for the offer Mr C. I will bear it in mind..... :y
-
Can post it to ya if it helps
-
May have one in Arbroath, chap is checking at the weekend, this was from a facebook post on the Omega appreciation mob.
As the brother in law lives in Arbroath, he has offered to collect and fit!
Hopefully a good result in the end. Cheers for the offer once again Stephen.
Jon

That's a result! It'll be here if you end up needing it anyway ;)
