I've done the honourable thing, and passed it all over to Mrs TB to sort out.

Mine was due in Dec last year, no claims in 14 years of being here, went up from £156 to £534  >:( >:( >:(

So, I went on gocompareconfuedcomparethemeerkat.com and got it back down to £160ish  :) :) :)

Don't forget to go through a cashback site, best offer I can see on Topcashback for Home insurance is up to £84 back. :y

Cashback is all well and good, but check elsewhere, eg car insurance £185.00 aftercashback £160, payable, after 3months, shopped around On insurer's own site, £160,
So I pay out £185 wait 3 months then get back £25 of my own money. ?????
Yes there are deals but be careful,

I bet some people never check, so sometimes they can get away with that.

Pay similar here £150 all in  :)

Suspect they need money to cover all the flooding a few weeks ago.

Mine was up for renewal this month - Admiral wanted over £300 and in the end the AA did it for £197 for a 4 bed detached, £75k contents cover, unlimited building cover, high value items all declared (~£12k).

Struggling to get under £200, and that's with no accidentals on contents.

That's cause you live in a rough area.

Stands to reason really. Castle up here equals shed down there, so payouts would be much bigger.

Rebuild costs would be broadly similar? I thought it was land costs that pushed prices up.

Don't think builders up here earn as much as down there, materials should be about the same. £200ish seems reasonable to me.

It was £140 2 years ago, now creeping up at a silly rate. Probably because all the do-gooding 'tards want their period featured chocolate box cottage to be by the river...

I'll ask for my "600' above sea level" discount come renewal, then.

Bring it on!

Our village is seasonally drowned by the river Arun... which tends to try to push renewals up... however our property is on a ridge line, so always gets haggled back to a sensible price ;D
