Title: Headlight problems
Post by: Tony H on 03 February 2016, 21:57:16
Hi all nearside headlight was just shining a pink on monday, this evening went out altogether and a warning came up on the MID. Is it just a bulb problem or something more complexed. Advice needed please.

TIA
Tony

HID bulb failing. If you can, replace the pair (unless other is new), as they do degrade quite noticibly.  I prefer Phillips or Osram, approx. 4200k temp. Quality bulbs are about £30 each, cheaper ones are Chinese fakes, and may or may not be much good.

units can stay in place, but airbox and battery will need to come out.

Suggested removing for two reasons... firstly, unplugging and removing allows time to ensure the ballasts are inert. Secondly, it's easier as you've three small screws to remove to get to the back of the bulbs and if you drop one, you'll be pulling the unit anyway ::) so no point opposing about...

Is Tony's car face lift or not? Prefacelift with headlight washers need the bumper removing or at least moving forward to allow removal of headlight
