Title: Seat belt slow to rewind.
Post by: Bigron on 06 February 2016, 18:09:17
Not of life-altering concern, just annoying. Why, after a few years, do once-rapidly rewinding seat belts get slower and slower to go back home when released? I've noticed this on several different cars that I've owned; they all end up needing to be jogged and persuaded back. Does the rewind reel get clogged with fluff or something?

Ron.

Front or rear? If front, the lower b post trim simply pops off... Get stuck in with the hoover, pull the belt right out, then use a silicon spray on the belt and then let it recoil, pull all the way out a few times... Once happy, refit panel :y

Rear much the same, but trim is a bit more involved...

Wow, that simple!
Thanks Al, I will definitely try that; I think that "back-to-black spray is largely silicone, yes?

Given as you can buy plain silicon spray, be prudent to use it ;)
