Title: Front Door Bell Push
Post by: Auto Addict on 12 February 2016, 11:51:39
The front door bell push button is very discoloured, so I want to replace it.

It's wired into a transformer system.

Simple push button with a wire in and wire out.

Question, can I replace this with an illuminated push? If so, how does the illumination work with just a wire in and wire out?

The illumination is normally a small bulb across the switch contacts. It passes a small amount of current when lit, but not enough to cause the bell to sound. This is why the light normally goes out when you press the button.

I'm guessing .......

The illumination generally goes out when you press them, so I'd say that the transformer supplies the light untill you press the button & then it supplies the bell

Try something like T cut on the plastic it may clean it up then you won't need to replace it 👍
