I enjoy reading and re-reading some of the James Clavell epics in the shape of Shogun, Taipan, Noble House and, possibly more recognisable, King Rat and others in the series.
Also enjoy biographies/autobiographies. Particularly liked Jackie Stewart and Richard Hammonds which covered his crash and its aftermath.

Those who have stayed at mine will of noticed that my 'bathroom reading' material is all reference material, be it programming, OS, or electronics (not to Mr DTM's level, obviously!).
On hols, I may read the odd 'story book', but just tend to pick up one of hers rather than have my own. Tends to be John Grisham and Dan Brown with her. I read that Da Vinci Code in Egypt (had plenty of 'toilet time' :-[), what a crock of cack. The book that is.
-
Obviously, my favourite authors are OOF members ;)

Terry Pratchett - best ever entertainment
Philip K. Dick - hard going, but makes you think
Tom Holt - clever stuff
Joseph Heller - intense but often hilarious
Evelyn Waugh - documenting the behaviour of the upper classes of my parents' generation
Any of the "Golden Age" SF writers - Asimov, Clarke, Pohl, Kuttner, Heinlein (early stuff), Williamson, Anderson - and a dozen more.
A few more modern SF writers - Niven, Moorcock, Harrison, Budrys (he died last week), Bova and some others
George R R Martin - Song of Ice and Fire - absolutely no idea what's going on
Good ol' Charles Dickens - more words per penny than average
The Harry Potter Books - but they're finished now.
Sherlock Holmes
Can't stand Tolkien. Have never finished Ulysses and I probably never will - it gets harder every time I look at it.

I remember reading one of Clarksons books late at night once, and he had written a piece about Germany, well, it had me in stitches, I couldn't stop laughing for what seemed like eternity :D
Grisham I discovered when I was in hospital. I was given a book by the hospital library called The Street Lawyer. Turned out to be an amazing book. I have bought loads of his since. :y
