OK folks, any help please...
My Omega won't tickover/idle at 500 RPMs as it should, well it will but is constantly hunting and varies between 300 and 700 RPMs when idle... My first thought was the ICV, so bought a new ICV and fitted it, problem still exists... Iv combatted it by turning the idle screw up so it now doesn't stop when in traffic/idling but is still hunting between 500 and 700 RPMs...
Iv recently replaced the rocker gaskets, the problem was there but didnt stop the engine before, but now it seems the problem has maybe got worse since...?
Would vacuum effect the idle....? Possible leak...? but I can't hear anything when engine is running....
BTW Iv also recently completed a full wet service on it ready for another years happy motoring if it passes its MoT next week....

If it's hunting it won't be the ICV.
Air leak is by far the likeliest cause and there are a number of diagnostic techniques. Although you should also try unplugging the MAF: this will put the EML on, but it might stop the problem. That will mean a new MAF

That was my second thought too, might give that a go today....
Thanks

Well it aint the MAF or the IAT sensor either.....
I'll try the vacuum pipes incase theres a leak, I can't hear any air escaping, but I'll check all elbows and pipes etc...

Stuck open EGR valve?

On my v70 where it would hunt turned out to be the completely the wrong plugs, I had a 2.4 20v n/a and the pulgs were for a 2.5 10v turbo so wrong gap and temp
just a thought

Thanks for the input mate. Iv got brand new NGK BKR6EK twin electrodes fitted as I also thought it might be the plugs too, but surely it would be misfiring...?
