Title: why can I not post a topic in the wanted section?
Post by: oro on 19 July 2008, 18:34:09
I have a space saver spare wheel inc tyre for a 2001 estate, i am happy to give it to an oof member but when i go to the section dealing with bits for sale or wanted, i am unable to find a link to enable me to post this offer. Am i doing something wrong or what? :-?

It might be that although you're kind enough to give something away you need 50 posts to advertize regardless of the price. This is to stop folk joining just to sell something. As it's free i suggest you pm an admin & they will decide.
       All the best, Guy. :y

ok, will pm you for you to offer.
I guess i can see the reasoning behind taking advantage, it just seems strange.

Problem is -- not everyone is generous enough to give stuff away !! The post count limit is there to stop people just joining up to sell stuff (ie make a quick profit and leave!).  As it's all automated at this end the programming can't tell that you are trying to do something good.
Best PM a mod and see if they can sort something out.

I understand it appears a little odd. We do get folk joining to sell quick & would be innundated if we allowed it hence the post restriction. I'm sure an admin will help you out, we're a friendly bunch really & you're welcome as a member. :y

I think the problem was people selling, receiving the money but not posting the goods  :(

We have had issues with sellers not delivering what they promised, hence by putting a restriction, we hope that more regular members are a little more honest than an anonymous stranger signing up purely to sell parts.

Obviously, thats not necessarily the case, but it does help cut it down a bit.

As we have a combined For Sale and Wanted parts section, we have to apply same restrictions, as its done at the board level.
