Title: Gear Selector Lock Solenoid Part Number
Post by: MG on 05 March 2016, 17:48:37
Hi

The solenoid that unlocks the gear selector when in park has failed on my 1998 V6 Elite.

I need to try and source a replacement.

Can anybody help with part number and where I may be able to obtain one?

Many thanks guys.

Mel.

Unless you have proved it's the solenoid beyond doubt, check the brake light switch/switches first.
I've just solved the problem on a Corsa 'D', and found that the brake pedal unit has two switches, one for the brakelights and a separate one for the gear lever locking system. So brakelights can still work normally although gear solenoid won't. I presume the Omega works the same way.

Not sure it's as simple as you say  :-\, but a duff brake light switch will give the same symptoms ie you can't get it out of Park .... been there at traffic lights stuck in Park struggling to go!  ;D

Yes I have taken the solenoid off the car and applied 12V and it is dead!

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement or obtain part number?

Thanks guys.
