Title: Another Top Forum Member
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 19 July 2008, 14:13:41
My daughters laptop was in need of a new mains charger. I was told on here that KenT does computer stuff and to PM him.

Ken fixed us up with a genuine new charger for far less then I could have bought one from anywhere else, plus it was here within a couple of days.

If anyone needs an computer stuff I would recommend speaking to KenT

Thanks again Ken

I have an few laptop hard drives if you just need something to get it up and running. Not likely to be large capacity though.

You did mention it. .. and the Dell that I pinch from work with a real COM port is about to go on long term loan, so it would be useful for Cheapo'ing if it's available.

Thing about 2nd hand HD's and CD/DVD drives is they are 2nd hand for a reason. Usually means they are stuffed in one way or another, or about to die. We were after a laptop Quanta DVDRW drive for work, and the Boss insisted on getting 2nd hand "tested" drives from crapbay. We have sourced 2 so far, and both were faulty, and you can guess the time and postage costs wasted. You can get a brand new, years guarantee 80G HD for about £37, or a DVDRW for about £28, its not worth mucking about. When it dies, how much agro are you going to go through trying to recover data, getting a new drive and reistallling windoze or what ever.

Anything for an easy life  :y

Yes, buying 2nd hand hard drives is a hiding to nothing. it's so easy to offload junk at boot sales, EBAY, etc. knowing the buyer won't be able to test it until he's got no come-back.
