Morning all. Looking for some advice.
Wipers just stopped straight up last night while driving in the rain.
Checked the car this morning and can hear motor turning and can feel that one of the rods on the drivers side feels loose. Only had a few minutes before work this morning to check but before I take scuttle off what should i be looking to have ready to fix or replace. I assume its popped off its mounting and even if I can reattach it probably worn and won't stay there. Do the linkage repair clips work or do I need new arms. If anyone has any links for replacement bits please let me know
Thanks
Dave

The repair clips do work, but I wouldn't consider them a permanent repair.
I have a complete, good wiper linkage/motor(in Chatham) that is yours for £20, but not until Monday as I don't return from France until Sunday.

Thanks Nick I will take you up on that offer.
I need to get a temporay repair on it so I can drive it as I only have the one car, I can pick it up round about mid morning Monday from you if I can rig the wipers or its not raining
Many thanks
Dave

Whoah!! It all probability it'll just be the arm from the motor that's come loose. You need to remove the complete assembly ..... 4 hex headed self tappers - be careful of the paint on your driver's side wing ..... and tighten the 8mm nut (13mm spanner)
There's a guide here somewhere but I'm on my phone so can't link to it

Thanks Andy
I will have a look tomorrow as I need to at least get a temporary fix on it.

This is a good point, but there is no need to remove the assembly to do it; if you use a short 13mm spanner it can be done in place. It's easier to clock the linkage correctly with it fitted to the car. This is how it should look:

If the nut has been loose for a while then the splines on the spindle and the hole in the linkage is likely to be badly worn and tightening the nut could be a very short term repair.

Nick. You tightened the linkage nut for me over at Andrews as it was very loose.
So to try to reconnect it with the linkage in the car is it the nut circled in yellow that has likely come off? The bolts circled in red are just the ones that hold it in place, is that right?

I vaguely remember doing that, and proves my point that it is a short term fix.
The attached photo was altered to answer a previous question
The yellow nut is probably loose rather than missing; the spindle rotating then acts as a file which damages both splines. The spindle is slightly tapered, so you can only tighten it so much before it won't grip any longer.

Be happy if I can get it fixed just to get to you to get the replacement arms.
Will check tomorrow and let you know
