Title: Oil cooler
Post by: BazaJT on 09 March 2016, 18:45:15
I have seen the results of oil cooler failure on diesel Transits and the like where the header tank is absolutely black. If the cooler lets go on a petrol engine[Omega]does this have the same effect or would it show as a different colour? My header tank has some kind of deposit in it although it's not chocka with it,but this is like a darker shade of the mayo you can get on the oil filler cap.If it is cooler failure does anyone know of a better price than £132 odd that I've seen them at on e-bay?If so where from please?

Comes up Coffee with Milk colour, or clay mud (in case you drink your coffee black). Starts of small amounts rising to just being full of the stuff.

Yep, still worth checking for mayo in oil though (dipstick) just in case, (HG)

That thought had occurred to me too Zirk,I'll check it this weekend before I order/buy any parts for it.With the timing belt needing doing and the oil cooler if the head gasket have gone that'll seal its fate and see it crushed.

Won't be HG.

Stop using until cooler replaced, or you'll be in a whole world of pain.

No problems there TB.The cars not been started since last November whilst I've been saving up for new timing belt plus fitting. Now find I have enough funds available[I think] to buy belt kit and oil cooler and have them fitted plus of course fresh coolant, new oil filter and oil for change all at same time.Just need to order them then find someone near at hand to do the fitting. It's just that if hg gone this would be a step too far as car simply not worth extra outlay.
