Title: X type calipers
Post by: EMD on 10 March 2016, 10:42:40
Rear calipers on the X type , seems to be a common problem that they seize up on the handbrake side with that bracketry thing  :-\ Ive seen a caliper brand new for £320  :o Guess they are a throw away item then once seized  ???

It happened on early Astra's (with integrated handbrake setup), Fords, BMWs, Hondas etc etc, Bosch caliper from memory. The Astra certainly then used Lucas as the default and no real issues from then on (although it may have been the other way round)

I have seen kits to rebuild them but never done one.

The £320 a side is the dearest but seen them at £45 a side so not too bad .

These sort of handbrake calipers never seem to work

Changed two on a golf mk5 today, looks exactly the same as the piccy, £50 a side.
