Title: wheel alignment
Post by: pauls on 11 March 2016, 21:57:05
Going to try a new place near me that has installed the same stuff as wims.. But just to help them out has anybody got the right setting for toe in/out, castor etc. I seem to recall that the general green area for omegas isnt good enough.

Front. :y
Toe in 0°05"
Camber -1°10"
Rear.
Toe in 0°06"
Camber -1°35-45"
Thrust angle 0°00"

Rear settings are a compromise as there's only one adjustment... but the thrust angle MUST be zero

All Omegas, although MV6/lowered should have a front camber of 1°15" :y

There's a place local to me with Hunter DSP stuff.  But sadly, after speaking to them, they don't understand what they are doing with it.

Just had this done today.
Company was Pitstop tyre centre unit 27 clayton road hayes middlesex ub3 1du.

It took them a while about 2hours but that was due to everything solid and not willing to move. Lots of spray and heat so work could begin.

Measurements not 100% to list below but a lot better than it started with also a straight steering wheel now.

before front -2.32....-2.09 camber
                        5.05....4.58  caster
                        0.18......0.15  toe
Back               -1.49......-1.49 camber
                        0.27.......0.19 toe
                          0.04 thrust angle

now    front -1.13  -1.12 camber
                     5.13...5.00 caster
                   0.05..0.05 toe
back       -1.57...-1.50  camber
               0.06.....0.05  toe
                 0.01 thrust angle..

As you can see not perfect but a lot better and only £60 all in.

Looks pretty good to me. :y

The setup at the rear will always be a compromise between camber and toe.

I must disagree there. I have been there twice (driving all the way from Kent) and have never received a discount either on the Omega or on the Audi (which was full alignment and a tyre)

I recently took the two lowered cars to ATS for the alignment and was told that they could'nt do either car due to the lowering and the Irmy bumpers, so I took them to Merit Tyre who use the John Beam system....done without a problem, job's a good 'un :y

Hmmm, must be who you speak to I guess.  :-\

I must admit I hadn't used them for a few years until recently (Last two times and two cars because I was working local to them and could leave the car there), they got my first Omega set up nicely but the ones in between where setup at a more local place due to time constraints.

If your trying to work that out, I've had six Omega's and a seventh will appear soon!!!  ::) ;D
