Its decanted into trays that go in the tool chests. So when you need to sling one in the boot, its a PITA.
Besides, as arronjb implies, you can never have enough shiny tools ;D

Fair enough on both points. :y

Which is how I ended up with not one but two Myford lathes.. ;D

So now you have a 4axis m/c or one for each hand.

Saves multiple setups when doing batches of parts, or changing chucks.

Well.. it would if I would pull my finger out and get them both working again - they both really need a rebuild and in reality I ended up with two because one has the screw-cutting gearbox and the other has the drive-spindle clutch.. converting the former to three phase with soft-start and speed control would really do away with the need for the clutch, though.
IIRC one is 1970s and one is 1950s with the older model being in better condition.. they really both need at least new bearings and one might even need a new leadscrew as it has quite a lot of backlash.

I can sell you some 99p spanners. Obviously they are shite, will fail, and will hurt when they fail.

This. I upgraded after popping 2 sockets in 1 day on a cheap set (laser maybe). Lost most of the skin on the knuckles of 1 hand. After that, the Halfords Professional sets looked pretty reasonably priced.

They've improved the hinges and catches on the later cases as well. :y

All the Halfords Pro/Advanced sets I've owned have either been too old or too new for those shitty cases, but I've seen other members' ones. Only minor annoyance with the new ones is the side catches, plus I also have concerns about long term use of those catches...

By improved, I mean that the lid actually stays connected to the base via the hinges when you fully open it (metal pin), whereas on mine the lid falls off when you open it (plastic lug). Can come in handy if you only require one half of your socket set I suppose. ::)
