Just a warning to those that use the A316 going into London (bottom of the M3) - There appears to be average speed cameras set up now, real sneaky ones, set very high. Just one camera for both lanes, with an "L" shape painted in each lane.
They have removed the fixed cameras after elevated section near the Shell garage, and the one near Twickenham stadium. I zoomed up there on the bike this week, now dreading a bit of paper arriving. :'(
No signs yet indicating average speed cameras, do they have to do this? As currently there are no speed camera signs :-\ :-\
I normally use this route on the GS, so it's easily to go over the average. :(

Isn't "L" the low-emissions zone ?? so ANPR cameras to check emission limits and charge if over ?? Just guessing however .... :)

Need 3 average speed camera's..also do yo have a front mounted number plate on your moped?. Thing that is an lez camera, average cameras on big yellow poles, 1 per lane.

Maybe I should have described it better, the "L" shape is not an L as such, it's at an angle, more like a " |__ " - Which is in the middle of each lane (dual carriage way) - It could well be low-emissiosn, as the positions confused me for speed. There is one near Shell garage, another before the round-about, but it's after a speed change from 50-40mph. The next one is after another round-about where you could stop for a red light.
Average speed on the M3 road works, all based on rear number plates, not front. They of course look like this:

These capture rear plates and are average cameras.

Front plate not relevant, all new average cameras take rear plates to capture bikes. Yellow poles nothing to do with it either, as these are the average camera's on the A40... (image not taken by me!)

Those look like lamp-posts to me, tunnie.. (I swear I really can't spot the cameras.. maybe I need to get my eyes checked!)

Tunnie posted a picture that is too wide for my screen - I had to scroll sideways to see the cameras.
