Title: New phone question...
Post by: 05omegav6 on 18 March 2016, 14:57:08
Finally fixed the screen on my phone today...

... by standing on it. ::) for anyone who hasn't seen my phone, this is actually an improvement ;D but now I need a new one... thing is I currently have an unlimited data T mobile contract... best EE do is 20gb for £45 per month.

What are the alternatives? £45 a month is about my limit, but 20gb is only just about enough data :-\

Im Assuming you still have your TM Full Monty thingy, I still got my on the go, Sim Only for about £14pm, but its about to go up to £22.

Is your Sim Only Al, or are you paying for Phone included, if so, and your contract is up, you could try and blag EE to stay on your Plan but ask for some discount as the phone is now paid for (good luck with that one, but you never know).  :-\

I had a chat with Retention a few weeks back, and basically the Guy was saying (off the record) that EE want most customers with Unlimited Data off and or Upgrade to a new EE Plan, so they may come up with something on Offer.

I got offered a 4G Sim Only Data Plan with 50Gb on EE for £29, but no Mins or Txt with that,  but you can pick up Mins and Txt for next to nothing these days, its the heavy Data use that gets expensive.

How much you paying at the moment? either way, if your trying to get an Upgrade Deal, dont speak to anyone other than the Retention Dept.  ;)

Currently paying £38 per month, T mobile 2000 with unlimited data contract finished last month... That was my last upgrade two years ago and was the best they would do... I got a new phone, cheaper contract, but a reduction in minutes from unlimited to 2000.

Could buy anewphone and switch to sim only, but new phone equates to about £25 per month over two years ::)

Battery life of this phone, a 4 year old Xperia S, makes a leaf look economical ;D

Depends what phone you want at the end of the day, if you want the latest and greatest iPhone or Galaxy then you`ll pay a premium, shop around for something like the Oneplus 2 and you`re looking at the £300 pound bracket.

Or you could by a cheap Android phone .... I paid £70 for my last one (new and unlocked) from Amazon (4in screen, 4g, etc) . It does the job.
Do a search for Huawei  :y
Then go for sim only deal  ;)
Battery life on my phone is outstanding.....days without a recharge  :)

After an Xperia Z5...

Then you'll pay for it....to me a phone should be able to make calls/texts/apps and do the internet......which mine does nicely  :)

If you want a decent phone, it will cost you. If you buy cheap, it will not be as good as a decent one. There you go.

Their signal is poo around here though... That extra £6 for unlimited data is tempting :-\
Decisions, decisions...

Yeah... IIRC it's a bit patchy around you. They do have an app, which is average, and also the option of home signal boxes.

But the uncapped data is legit... I've used around 200 Gb in several consecutive months and never had an issue :y

The signal is good at work though  ;)

Unlimited data is of no use if you can`t use it though due to crap signal.

Any reason for the Z5 in particular?

Just to make you aware Al, all Three Unlimited Data Plans are for Phone Mobile use only, if the Data is used for anything else, ie, Tethering, Hotspot, Dongle or PC / Tablet use its capped at 12gb per month after that all Data is chargeable.

I`ve used Pdanet to get around that and it works ok on Android but you`re best using the paid for app to avoid ads and usage cap.
