I've had a Halfords torque wrench just over 12 months and done only a handful of jobs with it on the Disco, today it decided it couldn't take the torque anymore and has broken >:( >:( >:( Halfords life guarantee doesn't cover moving parts :'( :'( :'( Bloody useless!!!!
Anyway I've stripped it down and its one of the little inserts that chocks the teeth and stops it turning, its snapped :( I assume that you can get repair kits??????

I have had success with Halfords changing my torque wrench despite the T&C's. SO maybe worth a try at a few stores.

Just found a repair kit on the bay so for £5 odd may not be worth the agro!

With Halfords pro, keep the receipt and if it breaks they will replace for free.
-
I thought that they change guarantee for the moving parts as well

try a different store, failing that ring the customer services number. The stores don't like complaints and will lose bonus over it. Moving parts ARE covered under the life time warranty now and its the shop that is wrong.

This.
I had an issue with a 3/8" ratchet in mine the week after I got it. kidderminster store refused my refund citing the moving parts clause. Phoned CS, next day I went back to the store and they were under orders to change it for me :)

got to say I think you've been unlucky with the breakage. ive got two hellfrauds t/wrenches. I use them every day at work. owned the 40-250nm one (or whatever torque it is) for 6 years now and the 60-320nm one for about 3 years and theyre still like new.
the strap-on man kindly let me test their calibration a few weeks back and theyre both only 10nm out each :y

Specifically excludes "service parts" which means the ratchet mechanism. Most stores now no longer insist on receipt now either :D, but unfortunately send items off for repair/replacement :(. That said, I always go armed with receipt.

In our store, we have rachet mech's etc on the shelf and we will swap them over free while you wait, likewise if you break a bit and its on the shelf its swapped there and then and if its a part that is not kept we will just break open a new set and save the rest for spares. The third party logistics company that we use are less than useful and 9 times out of 10 they don't have the bits required.
Should we do this as a store, probably not however as the only store in the entire company with zero complaints in the last 12 months it seems to work.
Like everything - its the little things that matter and how the small problems are fixed - people are quick enough to shout out when a company is rubbish (not just Halfords) but very little is ever said when they do something right.
Cheers
