A little girl has died when the bouncy castle on which she was playing was blown into the air yesterday. Two people have apparently been charged with causing this. How her parents must be feeling at this time I can only guess at.

They might bounce back?

They might bounce back?
Poor taste there Nick !

Terrible loss :'(

I assume the rest of the country was similar to here yesterday, pissing down and horizontal rain?
And they were allowed to play on a bouncy castle?
I suppose in this day and age it HAS to be somebody else's fault, not the kids or the parents....

My thoughts as well, but in these days were not allowed to tell the real truth. Also were was common sense.

Regards this tragic accident.
On the local news " ban bouncy castles" are we surprised? Mm knee jerk?

Banning children would be more effective.

Heard on the news two have been charged with manslaughter, awful for everyone involved with this tragedy.

Very tragic :(
However I suspect the bouncy castle owners put it up so they would get paid.... :-\
Maybe a rewrite in their contract would correct instances like this......im only guessing what's in their contract mind :-\
IE we arrive on site, determine its not safe to erect it due to weather conditions....if the organiser of the event....disagrees with us....then they sign a disclaimer that they are responsible if anything goes wrong.....and we still get paid......
Might alter a few wrong decisions :-\

Not the first time this has happened it is a known hazard in high speed winds. :(

Going from what TB said.I think the "operator" of such things has to take some responsibility as they should know the operating limits.Yes the parents have ultimate responsibility as it's their child and their decision at the end of the day.A child I think is hardly likely to "see" any danger.I know such things have happened in the past and sadly probably will do again in the future.I cannot explain-because I don't know-why this story touched me so much,I don't know the little girl, her family or anyone else involved.Must be getting soft in my old age!Just struck me as being such a senselessy tragic accident.

So how come we've made such a step backwards since we were all kids? Oh yes, the namby pamby molecoddling society.
I was lucky enough to work in a toy shop when I were a lad, right in the middle of the yuppy era, when the search to blame anyone other than those responsible started. As it happens, we used to rent out bouncy castles. For community events, we used to go and set it up as a matter of course (for back garden birthday parties, we'd set up for free if requested). Simple rules, irrespective of who set it up, it had to be staked and guyed, and the organiser was responsible for disabling it if the wind got up, and the rental form they signed clearly stated this. Other than a couple of expected kid collisions, we had no issues in all the times we did it. It ain't rocket science.
Those in favour of banning them need to be lined up and shot, as clearly these are the same people unwilling to take responsibility, and are the same people contaminating the gene pool.
